Though I grew up near the Windy City where it's all things Bears, I became a fan of the New York Jets in the late 90's when the former Baltimore Colts, which lost to our beloved Jets in Super Bowl III, drafted Peyton Manning. A lot of fans started flocking towards the Colts so I became a fan of their division rival from the old AFC East, the Jets.
It was tough because being a Notre Dame fan, I despised Vinny Testaverde during his days as a Miami Hurricane, but because of my new found hate for the bandwagon jumpers. A love for the green and white became solidified on the Monday night Miracle against the Dolphins. I sped home from school to watch whatever part of the game was left only to be disappointed to walk in the door to see the score was 30-7 Miami. Then the comeback began and the catch big Jumbo Elliot made to tie the game at 37 with under a minute to go was ridiculous. I was so excited, neighbors were yelling at me to shut up, so being the smart aleck I am, when Hall nailed the game winning field goal I ran out onto the apartment balcony and chanted J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!!!!
Received my broadcasting education from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting, did a stint at ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago as an associate producer, and did play-by-play for the Chicago Bandits for the 2006 season.
Age: 29
Jetsfan Age: 23
It all started at age 6 when my father starting bringing me to Jets games. We had those sweet upper deck season tickets right around the 45 yard line. Fandom in the Jets arrived watching the likes of Ken O'Brien, Freeman McNeil, Wesley Walker, AL TOOOOON, Joe Klecko, Mickey Schuler, that beast Gastineau...all the way into the present lingering in my thoughts and daydreaming about football Sundays when I can don my authentic Wayne Chrebet jersey. I am recently moved to San Diego but the hardest part about leaving New Yokr City wasn't family and friends. Sorry guys. My Mets took some of my heart however the bleeding reference is evident in the worn and torn sentimental Jets apparel owned, enriched with Jetsfan DNA worthy of those CSI light-flashing montages. I'm looking forward to sharing the growing pains and recent gains of a Jets diehard.
Raised in devout New York Giants household during the Glory Days of Parcells, Simms, and LT, Michael exhibited a rebellious side early in life, supporting the Giants upstart tenants, with the bright green uni's.
The arrogant Sack Exchange, and the offensive trio of Al Toon, Freeman McNeil, and Ken O'Brien, when he was not getting sacked, provided hope. Then it all becomes a blur, until Keyshawn made his fashion statement on draft day, we stole some coach named Bill from the Pats, and rose from the perils of 1-15 to within 30 minutes of the Super Bowl. Damn you John Elway!! Now we look to Chad, Laveranues, and the Man-genius to exorcise the demons, and lead Gang Green to the promise land.
Lest we forget those blurry years in between, Michael hails from Staten Island, NY, also the hometown, as Michael reticently and shamefully admits, of the immortal Rich Kotite, owner of 4-28 record as Jets coach, OUCH!!
